By The Water
I grew up in a house where hands were always busy. My grandmother believed idle hands were a kind of forgetting, so she kept me making things—drawing, stitching, cutting, building small worlds out of whatever was nearby. Fabric was always around. Blankets. Curtains. Pieces of cloth that had lived other lives before they reached our table.
These textile works return to that memory.
I’m drawn to cloth because it carries history differently than paint. It folds. It wrinkles. It warms bodies. It holds the shape of everyday life.
The image of me standing with my sons by the water is about inheritance—a father and children looking toward the same horizon. Working with textiles is my way of honoring my grandmother, who taught me that making something with your hands is a form of care.
